Faces of Freedom

Museum of Comtemporary Art North Miami

Curated by Jorge Luis Gutierrez

Faces of Freedom is a solo exhibition by Haitian artist Jean-Claude Legagneur, presenting a collection of large-scale portraits that speak to the dignity, strength, and complexity of Black identity and liberation.

Working closely with the curator, I developed the exhibition’s visual identity, including the logotype, postcard invitation, exhibition poster, and interpretive gallery materials. The title’s expressive typography was chosen to balance clarity with emotional resonance, evoking both solemnity and grace. Inspired by the scale and power of the artist’s portraits, the design language aimed to support the artwork without overpowering it—favoring simplicity, bold contrast, and careful use of negative space.

From initial concepts to print-ready files, I handled the full production of promotional and didactic materials, helping to create a cohesive visual experience that aligned with the exhibition’s themes and tone.
